The Pinelands project involved a carefully considered extension to an established family home in Essex. The brief called for a new kitchen and open-plan living space at ground floor, with an additional bedroom and bathroom above — all achieved without compromising the character of the original house or its relationship with neighbouring properties.
The extension is designed as a considered addition rather than an afterthought. The external materials — painted render and a standing seam roof — give the new volume its own identity while complementing the existing building. Large sliding doors blur the boundary between the new living space and the rear garden.
The interior spaces are light-filled and generously proportioned, achieving the spacious family living environment the clients required within a constrained suburban plot.
