Macintyre Residence

Macintyre Residence

A considered whole-house remodelling and extension, transforming a dated semi-detached property into a generous family home.

The Macintyre Residence presented a familiar challenge — a conventionally-built suburban house with good bones but poor spatial quality. Working closely with the client family, we developed a scheme that reorganised the ground floor plan around a new rear extension, creating an open kitchen, dining, and living space that opens directly onto the garden.

The exterior treatment uses a combination of painted render and timber cladding to give the building a distinctive, contemporary character while remaining in sympathy with the established street. New fenestration throughout improves natural light and views, and a roof lantern over the kitchen brings daylight deep into the plan.

The project was delivered on programme and within the client’s budget, achieving planning consent at first application.
