Beechlands is a detached house in a rural Essex setting that had become tired and dated. The brief was to modernise the property comprehensively — updating the external appearance, improving the internal layout, and bringing the building’s performance up to contemporary standards.
The external remodelling gave the house a clean, considered new identity through new render, updated fenestration, and a carefully designed front elevation. Internally, the ground floor was reconfigured to improve flow and connectivity between the main living spaces.
The project was managed with the owners in residence throughout — requiring careful programming and considerate site management to minimise disruption to daily family life.
